The ruler, level and square originally were comprised of Ara and Lupus, associated with Circinus, the compass, on the north, adjoining the two forefeet of the Centaur. It is simply called Norma by most astronomers.
Norma is north of and adjoins the Triangle. It Lacaille’s description, it lies within the present limits of our Scorpio.
